In East Amsterdam, you’ll find one of the best, low-key new sushi restaurants in the city. It’s my go-to place for ordering sushi, but you can also enjoy it on the mezzanine in the restaurant itself. High-quality sushi made with care. They also frequently feature specials with seasonal fish in the spotlight, such as sea urchin. Keep an eye on their Instagram for updates!

Ken Sushi
For everyone who loves spontaneity, surprises, and sushi, the omakase sushi bar Ken Sushi is highly recommended. The food is traditional with a touch of Chef Ken’s magic. The omakase experience lasts a few hours, making it a special outing. Due to the live kitchen, there is a personal and informal atmosphere. You can choose from various menus, and at the end of the omakase dinner, you have the option to reorder your favourites. A unique night out and a must-visit restaurant for sushi lovers.

One of the best sushi restaurants in Amsterdam is located in a place you might not expect: in a side street off Leidseplein. I kid you not! But believe me, you’ll want to come here to taste the omakase menus. A new Japanese bar that’s fully booked from day one, that promises something special! Utage Sake Bar is entirely decorated in Japanese style. The half curtain at the entrance and the typical sandy plasterwork make it an elegant place. The menu consists of classic and modern Japanese dishes meant for sharing – Japanese tapas, in other words – a unique experience that is definitely worth repeating. The presence of premium sake with your meal is a given! It’s not necessarily a sushi restaurant, as there is a selection of sushi and handrolls, but there’s much more deliciousness on the menu.
