The things I like about heartland is the amount of freedom we have. The professors are willing to work with your schedule and make things work to your benefit. I enjoyed my time at heartland because I felt like I could go to my instructors about anything, they wanted me to succeed. Some changes I would like to see regarding heartland is more chances to receive money off classes. I am a full time employee and student so it's hard for me to make ends meet. Even though heartland is less expensive than a 4 year college, it begins to feel the same when paying out of pocket every few months a couple thousand dollars.

The academics at Heartland Community College are outstanding in my opinion , especially for a community college. More specifically the STEM department is very well put together and offers classes and opportunities that many other community college do not. My experience with STEM instructors has been very positive and I have found that most of them are overqualified for their positions, many teach at other Universities such as Illinois Wesleyan, Illinois State University, University of Illinois, as well as others. This has allowed me to receive impeccable instruction but at a fraction of the cost . The campus is very modern and well kept, the bathrooms and public areas are always spotless. The amenities such as the the gym are also very nice and well kept, and the college is constantly renovating and improving the facilities. There are also lots of clubs and extracurricular involvement opportunities as well as a well supported tutoring center for additional academic help.

I have been attending Heartland Community College for the past year and a half, and can only say good things about the school. I was nervous that I would feel like I was missing out on the college experience going to a two year, but the time I have spent at Heartland whether it be with friends, classmates, advisors, or even strangers - I have loved. I would not change my decision for the world. Heartland has become a second home to me, where I can strive to be a better student and person.
