Thank you for trusting Nashville General Hospital with your care. We look forward to providing you with high-quality medical services, and doing so in a warm, welcoming environment. If you are an inpatient, we also want your stay with us to be as smooth and comfortable as possible. We’ve provided the information below to help you familiarize yourself with our campus and policies.

Admissions

When being admitted to Nashville General Hospital, we ask that you bring only essential items, such as:

  • Glasses / hearing aids / crutches or braces
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Robe / Slippers
  • Any other personal items (such as a hairbrush, chapstick, etc.)

Please do NOT bring valuables, such as cash or jewelry that can’t be replaced. NGH is not responsible for the loss or damage of patients’ belongings or valuables.

Parking, Valet, and Transportation

Courtesy Valet Services are available in the front of the main hospital entrance for Nashville General Hospital patients and visitors Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

If you prefer to self-park, the parking garage is located across the street on Albion Street. The garage is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please bring your parking ticket in with you and we will be happy to validate your parking at the location you visited during your trip to the hospital.

Visitation

Nashville General Hospital has implemented a stricter visitation policy, in compliance with current CDC guidelines. To keep patients and staff safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, visitors are restricted within the hospital. Learn how we have modified our policies to keep you and your family safe.

Cafeteria & Vending

The Cafeteria is located on the Lower Level (LL on the elevator).

Hours:

Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Breakfast:7 – 9:30 a.m.
Grab and Go:9:30 – 11 a.m.
Lunch:11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Metro Deli: 11 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Vending machines are conveniently located throughout the hospital.

Billing & Payment

Please familiarize yourself with the Billing and Payment policy of the hospital. This will help you to determine your financial responsibility, if any, for your hospital stay.

As a courtesy to our patients, and as a requirement by some of our contracted payers, we will bill your insurance. Amounts, such as co-payments, deductibles or other miscellaneous charges not covered by insurance are due upon discharge.

If you are uninsured, and are a Davidson County Resident, we may be able to assist you with a financial assistance program.

The Financial Counseling office is located on the first floor, through the double doors to the left of registration leading into the Meharry Clinics. Their hours are Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. For an appointment, please call 615-341-4165 or for questions concerning your hospital bill (855) 269-2001.

Pharmacy & Refills

The Community Pharmacy at NGHis open to all patients, visitors and staff of Nashville General Hospital. We want to be the pharmacy of choice for you and your family.Conveniently located on the first floor by the Internal Medicine Clinic, we will work with you to get the best pricing for your medications. Over-the-counter items are also available.

Medical Records Request

As a patient, you have the right to obtain your medical records. Medical records are provided at no cost to other healthcare providers or for use in disability determination, Workman’s Comp, Vocational Rehabilitation, and the Department of Human Services.

Gift Shop

Lori’s Gifts is a full-service gift shop located on the first floor of the hospital. Fresh flowers, cards, baby gifts and balloons are available for purchase. For your convenience, you can also shop Lori’s Gift online. The gift shop delivers purchased items daily to patient rooms.

This month, Lori’s Gift Shop will be open on Monday 12/14 until 8pm and December 24th from 6AM-1PM.

No Smoking Policy

In keeping with our mission to promote health and wellness, tobacco use is prohibited at Nashville General Hospital. We are committed to delivering excellent clinical care and creating an environment of patient safety. Upon admission, identified smokers will be offered smoking cessation therapy during hospitalization.

Spiritual Care

Located on the lower level, the hospital Chapel is open from 7:30 a.m. – 11 p.m. every day for prayer, worship, and quiet time. Chaplains are available from 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
